ARTICLE I  - MEMBERSHIP

Section I Eligibility.
There shall be three classes of membership: Individual, Household, and Junior:
{a} Individual Membership shall be open to all persons eighteen years of age and older who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes of this club.
{b} Household Membership is defined as husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, or significant other residing under the same roof, and shall be open to all persons eighteen years of age or older and who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes of this club
{c} Junior Membership shall be open to all persons between ten and eighteen years of age who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purposes of this club. Junior Membership is provided in order to encourage in such young people an interest in breeding, showing, caring for dogs, and to instruct them in the operation of purebred dog clubs. Junior Membership shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of membership except the right to vote, and to hold elective office.
While membership shall be unrestricted as to residence, the Club’s primary purpose is to be representative of the breeders, owners, and exhibitors in it’s immediate area

Section II Dues.
{a} Membership dues for each class of membership for which dues are required and shall be fixed or changed by the voting members on the recommendation of the Board of Directors. Maximum membership dues shall be $ 12.00 for individual, $ 18.00 for household and $ 10.00 for Junior. A household Membership will consist of two Individual Memberships for any two people residing at the same address who will have separate voting rights and receive only one copy of Club publications and club mailings other than ballots.
{b} Upon recommendation of the Board of Directors a vote to change the dues for any class of membership shall be taken by mail ballot in accordance with the provision of Article V. No such vote shall become effective until the beginning of the fiscal year next following the counting of the ballots except that such vote taken and counted with the bi-annual elective ballot may be effective retroactively to January first of the year in which such vote was counted. The ballot on a proposal to fix or change the dues for any class of membership shall state the date on which such proposal would become effective if adopted.
{c} Dues shall be payable upon application for membership and shall be due annually thereafter on or before the 1st of January each year. During the month of November the treasurer shall send to each member a statement of his dues for the ensuing year. Any member in default of dues after February 15th shall not be considered a member in good standing.

Section III Election To Membership.
{a} Each applicant for membership shall apply on a form as approved by the Board of Directors and which shall provide that the applicant agrees to abide by these Constitution, By-Laws, Code of Ethics for the Club, and the rules of the American Kennel Club. The application shall state the name, address, interest of the applicant, and shall be accompanied by the endorsement of two non-related members in good standing. Accompanying the application, the prospective member shall submit dues in payment for the current year.
{b} All applications are to be filed with the secretary and each application is to be read at the first meeting of the club following it receipt.

Section IV Members in Good Standing
{a} A member in good standing is one who has been accepted for membership whose dues have been paid by the 15th day of February, whose membership has not been terminated, and is not under suspension under any provisions of these By-Laws and who is in good standing with the American Kennel Club. The term “member” as used herein shall mean a member in good standing unless otherwise specifically provided.
{b} The right to vote on questions before the Club to hold office or serve on the Board of Directors to be awarded Club trophies or to exercise any other rights and privileges of membership otherwise specifically provided in these By-Laws or usually pertaining to Club membership shall be limited to members in good standing subject only to the specific limitations on the respective classes of membership set forth in Section I. of this Article.

Section V Termination of Membership
Membership may be terminated by resignation, lapsing, or expulsion.
{a} Resignation. Any member may resign from the Club upon written notice to the secretary but no member may resign when in debt to the Club.
{b} Lapsing. A member shall be deemed to have lapsed and shall be automatically terminated if the member’s dues are unpaid after the 15th of February.
{c} Expulsion. A membership may be terminated by expulsion at a Special Club Meeting as provided in Article VII of these By-Laws.
Any person ceasing to be a member for any cause whatsoever and having at the same time possession or custody of any club property shall immediately on such cessation return to the secretary all such property and shall be given a receipt for same.
