A Tribute To Stripe

Of all the wonderful dogs at Patapin, Stripe stands out as having something
extra special. She is an extreme girl, closely resembling her father, BPIS, multi group placing Can Ch. Patapin Zercon Gem Man. I retired her at five points, having made the hasty conclusion that she was just “too much” for most Judges.
When Merlin arrived to be shown to a Canadian Championship, I brought Stripe out of retirement to accompany him in the ring as there is little minpin competition in my area. She had not been in a show ring for over six months but in just three weekends, with boundless enthusiasm and attitude to burn attained:
a Group 2 under respected breeder Judge Wendy Maisey;
a Group 2 under Judge Larry Kereluke;
a Group 2 under Judge Don Fitzsimmons,
a Group 1 under Judge Patricia Fitzsimmons and
a group 4 under Judge Fred Heal.
At her last show, a careless mistake on my part gave Stripe
the opportunity to demonstrate her loyalty and courage. I
arrived at the show and put three puppies into an x-pen. I
left Stripe in her crate in the van with the door to the van
open and asked my neighbors to keep an eye on the puppies. I
then went to get my armbands. While I was waiting in the line,
someone ran up and shouted that Stripe had managed to get out
of her crate. I ran back frantically and found Stripe standing
in front of the puppy pen. She ran up to me wagging her tail
like she was proud of herself.
A small crowd had gathered and several people told me that
Stripe had jumped out of her crate and immediately ran off
three people who were admiring the puppies. She then stood
there and wouldn't let anyone approach their pen until I
returned.
Stripe then walked into the ring taking a group fourth like she owned the world!
Now that Merlin has finished his Canadian Championship, Stripe is re-entering retirement to make way for the new Patapin Prospects.

Stripe, who has never been bred, is
practicing for her big opportunity.
She is in heaven when she nurses her 18 week old adoptees!
